Who is a 6G Qualified Welder?

 6G qualified welder is the one who has the ability to make sound weld in 6G position and make sound weld in 6G position during welding qualification test . Sound welding means defect free welding, which is in acceptable limits . The 6G welder is a high capacity welder that can perform welding in all positions .

For welding in the 6G position, the test piece (made of pipe) is set at a 45 ⁰ angle position . The pipe cannot be rotated and it remains stationary. The welder has to move around the pipe and perform welding in all positions. The welder must be highly trained to weld in this position . Once a welder is qualified to weld in 6G position , he is also qualified for welding in 1G, 2G and 5G pipe welding positions .
